Sharon and Jimmy’s Clifftop Bali Wedding in Uluwatu

Sharon and Jimmy’s Clifftop Bali Wedding in Uluwatu

Real Bali Wedding: Sharon and Jimmy's Clifftop Bali Wedding in Uluwatu | The Bali Bride, Bali Wedding Directory

Sharon and Jimmy’s beautiful Bali wedding was filled with a few of our favourite things – a breathtaking cliff top location, stunning floral styling and personalised, meaningful details.

After first meeting while playing indoor soccer over 10 years ago, these two officially became engaged following a sweet surprise proposal on the beach. Travelling to Bali every year for their annual family holiday, the decision to plan a Bali wedding was easy – as Sharon explains, “it just made sense!”.

Inspired by rustic elements and geometric shapes, Sharon and Jimmy celebrated their nuptials at the incredible Pandawa Cliff Estate, with panoramic views of the Indian Ocean as their backdrop for the day.

With the help of wedding planner extraordinaire Chimene from HarperCo Events (one of our Bali vendor faves!), a relaxed, organic wedding celebration was brought to life for a Bali villa wedding to remember.

From the intimate poolside ceremony setting complete with timber cross back chairs, foliage garlands and a statement floral arbour backdrop, to the relaxed open-air reception, Sharon and Jimmy’s beautiful Bali wedding was decked out with a selection of rustic furniture and decor from the gorgeous Bali Event Hire collection.

Timber tables were dressed with flowing grey linens, geometric lanterns and sweet white and green floral details, framed by wooden canopies and drop-down pendant lights to create a warm, romantic setting under the stars.

With guests enjoying an authentic Indonesian buffet, lemon poppyseed cake and personalised ray-ban favours, celebrations continued throughout the night with an epic pool party, and of course, a game of soccer to reflect where this love story first began!

Captured in raw, emotive detail from the talented team at Terralogical, we are absolutely in love with the images from Sharon and Jimmy’s incredible Bali celebration. Keep reading to see more from their intimate Bali wedding, including some destination wedding planning tips from the newlyweds!

How we met: We met playing futsal (indoor soccer) around 10 years ago. We still play at that location.

The proposal: We planned a weekend away with a few friends. He pretended he was running late from work and my friends and I went to the beach where he was secretly waiting for me. He had stuck envelopes filled with photos of us down the stairs to the beach and was waiting for me under a tree. This beach is where we usually go in the summer to relax.

Who we couldn’t have done it without: Chimene Harper our Wedding Planner from HarperCo Events!

Advice for future Bali Brides: It is worth it to have a wedding planner! They know the local industry and are well connected. Make sure you find a planner who understands you and takes care of you and your fiancé’s wants for a wedding.

Our Wedding Day…

Wedding Planner/Stylist:

HarperCo Events – Chimene was so careful and detailed in her responses to us often going above and beyond to explain things for us which was really helpful for us to make informed decisions.

She was able to make sure we would get what we want and would fight to make sure everything was of the best quality. She is also not afraid to speak up and give suggestions even if we didn’t agree. It was great to have someone like her that you know you can trust to  make everything happen so that you and your fiancé can have a great time.

Décor/Furniture:

Bali Event Hire

Flowers/Florist:

Flower Corner Bali

We are not big on flowers so I wanted to make sure our flower budget was on the lower side. Chimene presented many options and Flower Corner Bali gave us the closest to what we want and a reasonable price.

Hair & Make-up:

Yeanne Makeup and Team

I had a trial with someone else but felt that wasn’t my style of make up. Yeanne was great. She understood Asian skin tones and how to make Asian eyes pop!

Photography:

Terralogical – Tutde

Tutde was great! He was a fun and engaging and captured some amazing pictures.

Videography:

Light Motion

The video was a lot of fun and the guys who were filming were also great. It was also great that the photographers and videographers all know each other from doing other weddings together so they wouldn’t get in each other’s way.

Favours:

Fake Ray Bans with engraving. They were a hit. Wish we ordered more!

Celebrant:

Our Pastor from Melbourne

Catering:

BGF Catering.  We were sold as soon as we did a food tasting. I wanted to go with a cheaper company but under Chimene’s advice not to skimp on reception food, we went with a modified Indonesian Buffet and it was a hit. Everyone loved the food at the wedding!

Cake/Dessert:

Butter Bali. We had a cake test and their cakes were so soft and yum, along with their icing. Our cake had 2 layers. One was a brown sugar cake and the other was lemon poppyseed. Both with crème cheese icing. We also had Indonesian desserts with the buffet.

Stationery/Invitations:

The laser name tags done and organized by Chimene. The invitations were done by us via a company called Vistaprint.

Entertainment:

We had a pool party and hired some floaties from Summer Floaty Bali. We also had some of our own floaties.

Gift Registry:

N/A. All our guests were from Melbourne. It was more than enough that they flew over to Bali for our wedding.

Wedding Songs:

Down the AisleI Won’t Give Up – Jayesslee (cover band)
AnnouncementFeels – Calvin Harris feat Pharrell and Katy Perry

The final part…

Where did you find your styling inspiration for your Bali wedding?

By looking through Instagram and Pinterest a lot.

What was the hardest part about planning a destination wedding?

Deciding on the style and working out what I want. Chimene was able to give a lot of direction regarding this but we needed to make the final decision.

A second thing would be making sure all your guests can go and be there with you!

Why did you choose Bali as your wedding destination?

As a family, we go to Bali every year so it just made sense! We also had a lot of friends getting married in the last few years and wanted to do something different.

How did you stay organised while planning a destination wedding?

By having an amazing wedding planner who responded quickly and was able to guide us through each step!
